According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, Arenas was traveling eastbound on I-580 near Greenville Road, when his Toyota Corolla drifted to the right and hit one of the yellow attenuator barrels on the right shoulder.
His car stopped, and was blocking one of the lanes. Arenas got out of his car and was standing toward the back of it when a Freightliner semi-truck towing a box trailer crashed into his car. Arenas was hit by both the truck and his car, causing fatal injuries, according to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn.
