Crews Contain 80-Acre Fire Near Altamont Pass: ACFD

A car fire on eastbound 580 near Altamont Pass expanded into an 80-acre vegetation fire Saturday night.

LIVERMORE, CA — Firefighters contained a car fire that spread to 80 acres of vegetation surrounding Altamont Pass.

The fire broke out at 6:58 p.m. Saturday in a car on eastbound I-580 near Flynn Road North and Carroll Road near Altamont Pass, according to Alameda County Fire Department spokesperson Cheryl Hurd. The fire spread to a vegetation fire that grew to 80 acres, helped by strong winds.

Crews helped get the fire under control by about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, ACFD said.
