Crews Contain Brush Fire Near I-580 In Livermore

A one-acre vegetation fire burning off Interstate 580 in Livermore was contained amid windy weather Sunday afternoon, officials said.

LIVERMORE, CA — Crews have contained a brush fire that broke out Sunday afternoon off of Interstate 580 in Livermore, a fire official told Patch.

The one-acre fire on the southbound side of the interstate near First Street was handled by three engines from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, Battalion Chief Greg Kurtz told Patch.

Crews initially blocked on-ramps to the interstate, which have since been reopened. The cause of the blaze is unknown, Kurtz said.

The fire broke out as windy weather has swept Northern California, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for severe fire danger in parts of the North Bay.
