Don't Get Ripped Off This Holiday Season: Prevent Package Thefts

Police ask residents to report suspicious behavior and watch for would-be criminals following delivery trucks.

LIVERMORE, CA — Police are asking for the public’s help to prevent package thefts this holiday season. In Livermore, police will be stepping up patrols in an effort to reduce the number of packages stolen from porches. Officials say Tri-Valley residents can also take steps to protect themselves from opportunistic criminals.

Police suggest online shoppers request proof of delivery and signatures on orders. They ask residents to track packages and have items delivered to work, a trusted neighbor, relative, shipping distribution centers or Amazon Locker.

Police say would-be criminals often follow delivery trucks. If you see a crime in progress, they ask that you call 911. Citizens can report suspicious behavior by calling 925-371-4987.
