Double Rainbow: Livermore's Photo of the Week
Patch loves photos! Share your photos with Livermore Patch, and your work could be featured.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore reader Jon Spalding shared this rare photo of a double rainbow spotted after the recent rains. No reports have been made whether or not there were two pots of gold at the end of those rainbows...
What causes a double rainbow? According to weather.com, the two rainbows appear “when refracted light does not escape the raindrop after being reflected the first time.” The first rainbow is considered the “primary rainbow” and the secondary rainbow displays the reverse colors of the primary due to the unique refraction.
