Dr. Kristina Whalen Approved As Las Positas College's Academic VP

She was approved by the board of trustees to begin her tenure at the beginning of July. ​

LIVERMORE, CA — Las Positas College announced Thursday that Dr. Kristina Whalen will be its new academic vice president. She was approved by the board of trustees to begin her tenure at the beginning of July.

"Kristina brings a reputation of collaborative problem-solving and an inclusive and innovative manner of leadership," said Las Positas College president Roanna Bennie. "We're pleased to have her as part of our team and look forward to her input and influence on campus."

Whalen previously served as City College of San Francisco's associate vice chancellor of instruction, enrollment management and instructional support services. Additionally she held the positions of CCSF's dean of the School of Fine, Applied and Communication Arts, department chair of speech communication and student learning outcomes coordinator. Prior to CCSF, Dr. Whalen also worked as a coordinator for Leading from the Middle, a leadership development program currently mentoring LPC's campus leaders through the college's Guided Pathways work.

Whalen holds a Ph.D. in speech communication and master's in rhetoric and public address from Florida State University.
