DUI Checkpoint Near Livermore Friday

Police warn that impaired driving includes prescription drugs and marijuana.

LIVERMORE, CA — A sobriety checkpoint will be held near Livermore on Friday night between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said. The location of the checkpoint has not been released. Officers the California Highway Patrol and other local police agencies will be looking for alcohol and/or drug impairment and proper licensing when contacting drivers.

“As with all checkpoints, the media will be notified in advance whenever a checkpoint is planned,” CHP officials said in a statement. “Motorists approaching a checkpoint will see informational signs advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead.”

The CHP says the checkpoint is an effort to reduce the number of alcohol-related collisions, deaths and injuries in the East Bay, and will only delay drivers momentarily. Police warn that impaired driving includes prescription drugs and marijuana.
