Electric Car Burned For Hours On I-580, Prompting SigAlert

LIVERMORE, CA — A three-vehicle crash caused an electric Hyundai to burn for several hours Sunday evening, resulting in a SigAlert on I-580.

The car caught on fire after it was involved in a three-vehicle crash at 5:51 p.m. on I-580 eastbound near Greenville Road in Livermore, according to Officer Tyler Hahn of the California Highway Patrol.

The electric car caught fire, and the right three lanes of eastbound I-580 were closed from roughly 6 p.m. until 9:23 p.m., Hahn said.

The car was completely destroyed, but no injuries were reported.
