One man suffered minor burns while trying to extinguish the blaze, fire officials said.

LIVERMORE, CA — A fire that started inside the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church Monday night caused about $300,000 worth of damage, fire officials said. The blaze was reported in the 400 block of N. Livermore Avenue at 8:13 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire within about 15 minutes of their arrival.
“The building is a mixed use building that includes the church, classrooms, a dining room and a kitchen that is used to provide meals to those in need,” Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Deputy Chief Joe Testa told Patch. “At the time of the fire, two people were working in the kitchen and discovered the fire that caused heavy damage to the dining room, a storage area for shoes and clothing and some attached rooms. The area of worship, the classrooms and the kitchen sustained little damage.”
Testa said one person was able to evacuate safely while another man suffered minor burns as he tried to extinguish the blaze. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. No firefighters were injured during the fire.
