Firefighters Battle 140-Acre Grass Fire In Contra Costa County
Alameda County firefighters battled flames near Byron Highway and Mountain House Road Monday.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters helped bring a 140-acre grass fire near the Alameda/Contra Costa County border, northeast of Altamont, Monday afternoon.
The fire was first reported at Byron Highway and Mountain House Road around 1:20 p.m. Crews remained on scene Monday night as hay, tree chips and stubble smoldered, according to Alameda County Fire.
The response included East Contra Costa Fire, Alameda County Fire, Cal Fire and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire. Two Cal Fire engines and two East Contra Costa Fire water tenders remained on scene as of 8 p.m., according to Alameda County Fire.
