Five Dogs Rescued, Disabled Veteran Displaced After Crash In Livermore Monday

Fire officials said the collision left the animals trapped inside a travel trailer.

LIVERMORE, CA — Five dogs were rescued early Monday morning after a crash involving their truck and travel trailer in Livermore. The rollover collision was reported at 6:35 a.m. in the area of S Vasco Road, according to fire officials. The driver was able to escape but the dogs were trapped inside the trailer.

Alameda County and Livermore-Pleasanton fire crews were able to rescue all of the Labrador Retrievers from the trailer. One of the animals was treated with a splint due to a leg injury. No other injuries were reported. Fire officials said the Red Cross and Veterans Affairs Department are helping the displaced driver, a disabled veteran, who called the trailer his home.

Earlier in the day, another crash involving a jackknifed big rig was reported on S Vasco Road and Emily Way. No one was injured in that collision.
