Fund Set Up to Cover Funeral Costs for Couple Killed in Crash

LIVERMORE, CA - A GoFundMe account has been set up to cover funeral expenses for the couple who were killed on Interstate Highway 580 over the weekend.

Lev Bun, 40, and Phy Phom, 35, of Oakland were killed Sunday morning near Altamont Pass. Two children, ages 5 and 6, were injured in the crash.

The GoFundMe request from one of his sisters reads, “My heart just felt like dying but I know he want us to be strong and let him rest easy. Nothing is easy when losing your ONLY brother. My family and I is hoping to raise enough funds towards the funeral cost. I can’t type anymore without sobbing.”

Touched by the tragedy, more than 100 people have donated. Gifts range from $5 to $400, with many $10 - $25.

One donor wrote, “I’m deeply sadden to see my childhood friends Malinda, Pheak, and Bopha to lose their only brother. May your soul rest easy and watch over your family from above.”

The family hopes to raise $20,000.
