Grass Fire Near Altamont Grows To Roughly 19 Acres

Cal Fire crews stopped forward progress on a vegetation fire in Alameda County in between Tracy and Livermore on Sunday.

LIVERMORE, CA — Cal Fire crews stopped forward progress on a vegetation fire in Alameda County in between Tracy and Livermore on Sunday after it grew to about 19 acres.

The fire broke out at about 12:20 p.m., roughly a mile west of Altamont Speedway, near Interstate Highway 580 and Grant Line Road, according to Cal Fire.

Air support and fire crews from the Alameda County Fire Department, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, and San Joaquin County South County Fire Authority helped stop the fire's forward spread by about 1:15 p.m. Cal Fire's Santa Clara Unit (SCU) led the response.

But the fire remained uncontained at that time.

In an update at about 1:45 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire--which the fire agency referred to as the Grant Fire--had grown to about 19 acres.
