Hawks Look To Rebound On Road
Las Positas men's team to face tough Skyline and Canada-Redwood City to close Coast-North season after tough loss to state No. 1 CCSF.

The Las Positas men’s basketball team, which has won five of its past six games, will wrap up another successful Coast Conference-North Division season with two tough road tests, Wednesday at Skyline and Friday at Canada-Redwood City.
The second-place Hawks (20-5, 8-2) are coming off a difficult 94-65 loss to state No. 1 CCSF Friday in San Francisco. The Rams (25-1, 10-0) have now won 11 in a row, after also beating Foothill on Monday.
The Hawks were dealt a major blow against CCSF when freshman star Michael Hayes (West High-Tracy), who is averaging 23.6 points a game, fouled out in only 10 minutes of action. He finished with 10 points. Aalafia Oluwosogo (American-Fremont) led the Hawks with 15 points to go with eight rebounds. Nana Appiah (Patterson) provided a lift off the bench with 13 points and nine boards.

Las Positas coach James Giacomazzi felt four of the five calls against Hayes “were questionable to say the least.”
But what’s done is done.

The Hawks will be facing two sharp opponents in Skyline and Canada and will need their best to win.
“We played well to best them the first go around, but we’ll need to play even better to win on the road,” Giacomazzi said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge and want to head into the playoffs with positive momentum. We’re prepared for what’s coming, now it’s just time for players to make plays and get it done.”
