High Wind Advisory Issued For Altamont Pass: CHP

ALTAMONT PASS, CA — A high wind advisory has been issued Tuesday for travelers on the I-580 at Altamont Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The advisory was issued just before 8:30 a.m.

Driving conditions in the area may get worse later Tuesday. A Red Flag Warning for the North Bay Mountains and East Bay Hills will take effect late Tuesday night through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

North Bay Mountains above 1,000 feet, East Bay Hills above 1,000 feet, and the Diablo Range are all expected to be impacted. North to northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35 to 45 mph are forecast. Local gusts at isolated peaks and ridge tops may approach and possibly exceed 60 mph, according to the NWS.
