Man Struck, Critically Injured By Woman Suspected Of DUI: Livermore Police

The Pleasanton woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence, police said.

LIVERMORE, CA — A Pleasanton man was critically injured Friday morning after he was struck by a suspected drunk driver, police officials said. The man, 73, was standing next to his car, which was stopped on the side of the road on southbound State Route 84/ Isabel Avenue just south of I-580, when he was allegedly struck and seriously injured by a car at about 10:20 a.m.

Police said the car was disabled during the crash and the driver, Jennifer Barbero, 42, was with the injured man when Livermore police officers arrived on scene. The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Barbero was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and causing great bodily injury. She was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

Police said the southbound lanes of State Route 84/Isabel Avenue were closed since the collision occurred and were expected to reopen by 3 p.m.
