How To Prevent Becoming A Victim Of Mail Theft

LIVERMORE, CA – A brief video offering valuable reminders to aid in mail-theft prevention was released last week by the Livermore Police Department.

"The majority of mail theft is committed with the sole purpose of stealing a person's personal information so the criminal can commit identity theft," the department said. "Take these few steps to reduce your chances of becoming a victim."

• - Check your mail daily.
• - Stop your mail if you leave for a long period of time.
• - If possible, aim a video camera in the direction of the mailboxes.
• - Join Neighborhood Watch.
