Las Positas College Holding Auditions For EVITA

LIVERMORE, CA - From Las Positas College: Las Positas College is excited to announce auditions for the summer production of the Tony Award winning musical EVITA by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

EVITA follows the life and ambitions of Eva Peron', set in Argentina between 1934 to 1952. From her poor childhood to ambitious actress, to wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Peron, EVITA charts the life and rise of power and fame of the most powerful woman in Latin America.

Auditions will be held on campus March 19 and 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. in room 4127 at 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore. People of all skill-levels, abilities, ethnicities, ages and sexualities are welcome and encouraged to audition. Auditions will be held by appointment only.

Ahead of auditioning, those interested must prepare two contrasting songs, 32 measures each; one from the Golden Age of Musical Theater, the other from a pop/rock musical. Those scheduled to audition must bring sheet music for the two song selections set in the vocal key prepared. A musical accompanist will be provided.

Callbacks for vocals will be held on March 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. Callbacks for dance will be held on March 23, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Rehearsals for EVITA will take place from May 29 through July 11, Monday through Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. Cast members will be required to sign up for THEA 47 (Rehearsal - 3 units).

EVITA will be performed at Las Positas College in the school's beautiful outdoor amphitheater from July 12-15, 2018. The musical will be directed by Dyan McBride (AEA / SAG) and feature choreography by Staci Arriaga.
