Las Positas College Hosting Open Auditions For Spring Productions
Community members of various ages, all genders and ethnicities are encouraged to audition for roles in the productions.
From Las Positas College: November 06, 2017Las Positas College Department of Theater Arts will be holding open auditions for its spring productions of Heathers: The Musical by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy, and Under Construction by Charles Mee. Community members of various ages, all genders and ethnicities (including those with accents and special character voice skills) are encouraged to audition for character roles in both productions.
When: Monday, November 13, and Tuesday, November 14, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.Callbacks will be Thursday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m., by invitation only.
Where: The Green Room, on the campus of Las Positas Community College, Bldg. 4000
Call: Open call. No appointments taken.
Audition Requirements:
For Heathers: The Musical: Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic or dramatic monologue, preferably memorized, from a contemporary playwright. Please prepare 16 measures of music to sing from a contemporary musical or other piece of contemporary pop/rock music. Please be prepared to dance at auditions.
For Under Construction: Those auditioning should dress to move, and plan to stay for the entire time-it's OK if you need to slip out to audition for Heathers. Be prepared to demonstrate a talent other than acting-play a musical instrument, do a short dance, tell a great joke, or even whistle happy birthday. We will also be reading from the script. No additional preparation is needed.
About the Productions:
Heathers: The Musical is a hilarious, heartfelt, and homicidal show that features a moving love story, laugh-out-loud comedy, and an unflinching look at the joys and anguish of high school.
The cast rehearses January 16-April 5, and performs April 6-15.
Under Construction is a collage of song, performances, monologues, and scenes that form a picture of an America of the past and present; the "greatest generation" through to the current one.
