Las Positas College Hosts Free Veterans Day Events
Las Positas College will host free Veterans Day events on Thursday, November 9th.

LIVERMORE, CA - From Las Positas College: Las Positas College (LPC) and the LPC Veterans First Program in Livermore, CA will present two free Veterans Day events on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Both events are open to the general public and admission is free; parking on campus is $2. The Veterans Day observance kicks off at 11 a.m. with a barbecue at the Veterans Resource Center in building 1310 on the LPC campus. BBQ is free for all Veterans. There is a $10 minimum donation per plate for non-Veterans and the public is invited to attend.
"Las Positas College is proud and honored to recognize the contributions of our United States veterans each year with community events that educate, inspire, and engage," says LPC Interim President Dr. Roanna Bennie. "This year's keynote speaker, a decorated Navy Seal, further broadens the scope of this valuable program and I encourage the public to join us for this excellent presentation."
An address by keynote speaker Thom Shea will follow the barbecue at 1 p.m. in building 2400, room 2420,on the LPC campus. Seating is limited. Over-flow seating will be available with the lecture shown on a large screen. Shea is a highly decorated Navy SEAL and author of "Unbreakable: A Navy SEAL's Way of Life" reflecting stories about his years of combat experience in Afghanistan. He will deliver a message about high-level performance entitled "Thriving in Chaos!"

For those unable to attend the 1 p.m. lecture, the same presentation will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 9 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Pleasanton, located at 301 Main Street in downtown Pleasanton.
Shea served 23 years with distinguished valor as a Navy SEAL during which time he served in three wars and led a team of SEALS into Afghanistan. Following that tour, he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor, Army Commendation with Valor, and a second Combat Action medal for his leadership.*
