Las Positas Junior Golfers Competing in 2016 PGA Junior League Golf National Championship

The team will compete in the 2016 PGA Junior League Golf Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona.

LIVERMORE, CA — A group of junior golfers from the Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore will compete in the 2016 PGA Junior League Golf National Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Arizona later this month.

Team California competed against three teams from Orange County, Washington and Oregon at the PGA Junior League Golf Western Regional in September at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington.

“We’re very excited to wrap up another successful 2016 PGA Junior League Golf season with the National Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club this year,” said PGA President Derek Sprague said in a statement. “It’s going to be a fun weekend and a great opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of these boys and girls. Congratulations to Team California on their accomplishment!”

According to a statement from the PGA of America, at the National Championship, teams compete in East vs. West matches, and utilize a two-person- scramble format. Team California will compete against teams from Connecticut, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, Alabama and Texas. Coaches can substitute players every three holes, so that all team members have the opportunity to participate.

The team, which played at the Las Positas Golf Course during the regular season, is captained by PGA Professional Jeff DeBenedetti.
