Las Positas Roundup: Hart Sensational For Lady Hawks
Millennium High graduate has 35 points, 13 steals in win: Hawks men up to No. 2 in NorCal basketball rankings
Ashley Hart had a career-high 35 points and 13 steals as the Las Positas women’s basketball team beat Hartnell on Nov. 16.
Impressively, Hart, a sophomore guard out of Millennium High in Tracy, was 15 of 26 from the floor and 4 of 8 from 3-point range. Alexis Caringal Holmes (Kimball HS-Tracy) had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor Freitas (Monte Vista HS) added 14 points, six rebounds and four steals.
After leading by one at the half, the Hawks broke it open with a 23-12 run in the third quarter.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The high-flying Las Positas men’s team (4-0), ranked No. 2 in the Signal The Light Basketball Northern California rankings, is led by fab freshman Michael Hayes (West-Tracy) who is averaging 18.5 points and 10. 5 rebounds a game. He is tied for No. 11 in the state in rebounding and tied for No. 27 in scoring. Sophomores Alafia Oluwosogo (12 ppg), Nana Appiah (10.3 ppg), John Ketchel (10.0 ppg) and freshman Decaurey Brown (8.3 ppg) are off to strong starts on the balanced squad. The Hawks’ scheduled games against De Anza and Feather River last week in the Gladiator Classic were canceled due to poor air quality.

SOCCER
The Las Positas men’s soccer team (10-7-3), seeded 16th in CCCAA NorCal playoffs, will travel to No. 1 seed Fresno City (13-1-7) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, in a rescheduled game due to air quality.
The No. 6 seeded Las Positas women’s team (13-3-3), which was supposed to host No. 11 Hartnell (14-7-1) in the first round Monday, instead had to travel to Salinas Monday due to air quality concerns. The Hawks then dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to end their season.
