LIVERMORE, CA — One person was killed early Monday in a collision with a big rig truck, the California Highway Patrol said on its incident page. A preliminary investigation from the CHP Contra Costa has found that a Ford Fusion with one occupant was traveling southbound on Vasco Road, and collided with a big rig truck into the northbound lane after attempting to cross into the lane. The Ford driver was pronounced dead on scene, and the driver of the truck was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.Vasco Road was closed in both directions until about 9:47 a.m.

Kiddie Academy of Livermore will host Hero Play Day on Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m. for infants to 12-year-olds. Families are invited to attend this free community event designed to help children recognize and celebrate their personal heroes.

The new hands-on event will be an opportunity for children to dress up as their favorite superhero and participate in “training” stations set up around the Academy, including obstacle courses, strength tests and kindness missions.

2024 Petite Sirah paired with Brabander Goat Gouda A Dutch goat's milk cheese aged over 8 months. Bright and creamy, with a clean tang, notes of caramel and toffee, and a smooth, mellow finish.
2022 "Big Wood" Zinfandel paired with Alter Fritz Alpine Cheese A German-style Alpine cow's milk cheese, mountain-aged and firm. Nutty and full-bodied, with savory richness, hints of sweet cream, and a smooth, satisfying finish.
2022 "Muy Bueno" Zinfandel paired with Red Rock Cheddar An American cow's milk cheddar with marbled blue veining. Bold and crumbly, with sharp cheddar tang, earthy blue notes, and a rich, savory finish.
