Livermore Centennial Bulb T-Shirt Sales Will Benefit Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation

Shirts can be purchased online.

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore-Pleasanton firefighters are selling t-shirts that pay homage to Livermore’s famous Centennial Bulb. Proceeds from the Centennial Bulb t-shirt sales will benefit the Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation.

The most famous light bulb in the world has been burning in the Livermore fire station #6 since 1901. The bulb has been in the Guinness Book of World Records twice. On June 18, 2011, the City of Livermore threw a bash celebrating the bulb's 110th birthday. The bulb has garnered worldwide attention and has been the focus of numerous news reports, television shows, movies, books and tourists. It was given recognition from dignitaries throughout the United States.

In 2013, the celebrated bulb appeared to have burned out and after a swift investigation, firefighters were relieved to discover the uninterrupted power supply had failed and the light bulb was back on. The Centennial Bulb has its own Facebook page with more than 11,000 likes.
