Livermore K9 Helps Locate Unregistered Gun, 2 Pounds Of Drugs

LIVERMORE, CA - A Livermore police K9 had to put down his Starbucks “Puppuccino” (an espresso cup filled with whipped cream) Saturday to assist in an arrest.

Drake and his human had just participated in the California Peace Officers’ Association’s 5K Memorial Run at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park in Pleasanton, an annual event to honor officers killed in the line of duty, and to benefit local law enforcement charities and the families of the fallen officers. He had also joined offers at the South Bay Career Symposium in San Jose to recruit new Livermore officers.

Drake was called to investigate a car that police say contained an unregistered handgun, as well as two pounds of marijuana and cocaine. Police found that the car belonged to a 21-year-old convicted felon from Riverbank who was on probation. The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail on drugs and weapons charges.

After the investigation, Drake reportedly finally got his Puppuccino, and a few extra belly scratches.
