Livermore Lab Employees Raise $3.7M For Charities

"This is a testament of our employees' commitment to making a positive impact in our local and surrounding communities."

LIVERMORE, CA – Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory employees, along with Lawrence Livermore National Security, donated more than $3.7 million to charitable organizations through an annual employee-giving program, the Helping Others More Effectively (HOME) Campaign.

Through the HOME Campaign, now in its 43rd year, laboratory employees pledged $2,725,611 through payroll deductions, with 100 percent of the funds going directly to agencies chosen by workers, LLNL officials said.

LLNS, which manages the lab for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, is adding $1 million in pro-rated matching funds to augment employee donations, increasing the total contribution to more than $3.7 million.

Nearly 1,300 employees, roughly 18.5 percent, participated this year, benefitting more than 1,200 community/nonprofit agencies in the Tri-Valley, Greater Bay Area, San Joaquin County and beyond.

“Our employees continue to generously support the HOME Campaign and even matched the same level of donations as last year,” said Bill Goldstein, LLNS president and laboratory director. “This is a testament of our employees’ commitment to making a positive impact in our local and surrounding communities.”

Since 2009, the Lab's HOME Campaign, which runs October through December, has raised more than $3 million annually (including the annual LLNS $1 million match) with a total amount raised of more than $36 million in the last decade.

The HOME Campaign is one of the Tri-Valley's most generous annual charity drives, and is a major community support activity for the Laboratory.
