Livermore Native Facing Molestation Charges Performs Self-Surgery
The man, who has been in jail in Santa Cruz County since 2014, faces 16 felony counts.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A Livermore native accused of molesting seven young girls performed self-surgery while in jail to remove his own testicles, according to a report in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Carl Benedict Guerin, 57, who has been incarcerated at the Santa Cruz County Jail since 2014, told jail staff he was concerned about the possibility of prostate cancer when he performed the procedure.
Before his arrest, Guerin, who lived in Live Oak, was a technology director for the Scotts Valley School District, foster parent and Girl Scout troop leader, according to the report.
Despite Guerin’s decision to perform his own surgery, a court-appointed doctor deemed him competent to stand trial. Guerin faces 16 felony counts. Read the full report here.
