LIVERMORE, CA - Police and fire officials in Livermore helped spread holiday cheer to a 6-year-old girl and her family after the girl’s mother died from a medical condition on Christmas Day.

Friday afternoon police and firefighters responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at a Livermore hotel, according to police. When they arrived they found a 39-year-old woman suffering a medical emergency related to a pre-existing medical condition, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Police learned the woman had recently relocated to the area from Florida with her 6-year-old daughter, Karma. The girl was placed with a foster family until her grandmother could respond from Florida, according to police.
