Livermore Police Invite Community To 'Stuff The Cruiser'

LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore Police Department is inviting the community out this weekend for its annual "Stuff the Cruiser" event to benefit underprivileged Livermore-area students. On both Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., LPD employees and volunteers will be out at four locations across the city collecting school supplies from citizens for the kids. At every location, the goal is to stuff a police car full of supplies like backpacks, paper, binders, pens, pencils, erasers, folders, protractors, compasses, glue, calculators and scissors.

Citizens are asked to bring their donations to the following Livermore locations to help "Stuff the Cruiser":

Walmart (2700 Las Positas Rd.)

Office Max (2400 Las Positas Rd.)

Big Lots (4484 Las Positas Rd.)

CVS Pharmacy (1500 First St.)

All of the collected school supplies will be sorted and placed into the donated backpacks that will be given to students in need (all grade levels). Students who will be receiving the donated supplies have been identified through the department's Horizons Counseling program and the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District.

At last year's "Stuff the Cruiser" event, the LPD supplied nearly 605 students with backpacks filled with school supplies, according to the LPD.

For those who want to make donations but cannot get to any of the above locations, the LPD is accepting drop-offs at its front lobby (1110 S. Livermore Ave.) on or before Thursday, July 25 at 5 p.m.

All of the LPD employees who are coordinating and working this weekend's event are volunteering their time to do so, according to the LPD.
