Officer Davies started his career as an officer with LPD in 1957. He served in many divisions including: narcotics, detective, mounted patrol, sergeant, motor officer, and as a field training officer but his favorite was being a patrol officer.
It was not unusual to be pulled over by Officer Davies for speeding, only to have him invite you to the races, or to ask you to pop your hood so he could admire your fine machinery. Officer Davies was instrumental in starting a bicycle safety program, defensive driving course for city employees and helping to make it mandatory for Livermore officers to attend the police academy even before it was a state requirement.

Officer Davies was described as the city’s most durable cop. He was a leader, a mentor, but most importantly, he was a friend to many. Always honest and fair, he made a difference in the lives of many Livermore citizens.
Officer Davies retired from LPD in 1988 to a full squad salute. He then continued his police career as a court attendant with Alameda County, finally retiring in 2000.
