Livermore Police Return Stolen Scooter To 13-Year-Old

A boy's Christmas present was taken away, but Livermore Police tracked the grinch and returned it.

LIVERMORE, CA — It takes a special kind of grinch to steal Christmas presents from children.

On Jan. 1, Livermore police investigated the theft of a Hiboy electric scooter at the Target on Las Positas Road. The scooter had been a Christmas gift for a 13-year-old boy, according to police.

Livermore police eventually identified the suspect as 30-year-old Zakkery Vance from Modesto, who is on parole for first-degree robbery. Vance was arrested Jan. 26 in San Ramon for violating his parole. San Ramon police found a taser, pepper spray, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Vance’s possession.

Livermore police say that Vance admitted that he stole the scooter and sold it in Modesto. Officers drove to Modesto, contacted the person to whom it was sold, and returned the scooter to the boy.

Vance was arrested and is now facing grand theft charges, police said.
