Lunar New Year Celebration Planned At Bankhead Plaza

Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit Saturday with kung fu, calligraphy, lion dancing and more.

LIVERMORE, CA — The Year of the Rabbit is approaching, which traditionally symbolizes prosperity, longevity, and peace.

In Livermore, it also means a full, free day of celebrating Asian culture at Bankhead Plaza. Visitors will be able to enjoy:

  • Tai chi lessons and demonstration by Richard Cheng
  • Traditional Chinese dance from the U.S. Chinese Dance Association and Zitheras Academy
  • Martial arts demonstrations by KungFu Dragon USA
  • Lion dancing
  • Classical Indian dance from Shanmukha Theaters
  • Chinese, Indian and Southeast Asian music by DJ John Francisco
  • Calligraphy by Wei-ting
  • Asian food and drink for sale
  • Showcases from the Livermore Heritage Guild and Granada High School Asian-American Club
