LIVERMORE, CA — The intersection between Fourth and Holmes streets shut down Tuesday afternoon following a major crash, Livermore police said.
At around 2:30 p.m., a gray Nissan sedan was traveling northbound on Holmes Street near Fourth Street when it struck a blue Honda SUV traveling eastbound on Murrieta Boulevard, according to LPD spokesperson Azenith Smith.
A preliminary investigation suggested that the 86-year-old Nissan driver ran a red light and was not wearing a seatbelt, Smith said. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The 68-year-old Honda driver was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation.
