Union Pacific Railroad officials confirm that a person was fatally struck by a train in Livermore on Friday evening in the area of Murrieta and Stanley boulevards.

Union Pacific Railroad spokesman Francisco Castillo told Patch, via email, that the person on the tracks was a “trespasser.”

“A Union Pacific locomotive, heading eastbound, struck an adult male trespasser who sustained fatal injuries,” Castillo said. “The individual was kneeling in the middle of the tracks – facing the train – when he was struck.”
