*** Vote NO on Measure BB ***

There are promises of BART to Livermore but NO GUARANTEES that ANY $$ will actually be used to fund it - HOLD ONTO YOUR WALLET!!!

Measure BB, which, according to the very deceptive ballot wording, “augments by ½-cent and extends” the existing county transportation sales tax. If passed, Alameda County will be the new “poster child” for over-taxed counties in the nation (even higher than New York).

This is a 100% tax increase. This measure would DOUBLE the tax for OVER THIRTY YEARS - an entire generation, even though the existing transportation sales tax (Measure B) still has 8 years until it expires.

So THIRTY EIGHT YEARS of DOUBLE TAXES.

This is not just a transportation tax for roads. Half the money would go to transit agencies, with AC Transit the biggest winner. Almost $2 Billion of Measure BB will go to AC Transit WITHOUT any requirements for increased efficiency, better management or stronger accountability. AC Transit does not even come into the Tri Valley, yet we will subsidize it.

There are promises of BART to Livermore in this measure, yet, there are absolutely NO GUARANTEES that ANY of the monies will actually be used to fund BART to Livermore.

This outrageously expensive government project is not guaranteed to happen, and the plan does not include provisions for adequate parking in Livermore. If you are counting on BART from BB - beware, the language around BART is slippery and deceptive! Moreover, we have been paying a separate ½ cent sales tax for BART funding for years and years. Apparently, that BART tax is not enough and the bureaucrats have added even more BART funding (aka Bailout) into Measure BB.

Measure BB is BAD for Alameda County and BAD for Livermore. Like in 2012, the Fiends of Livermore urge voters to reject this SALES TAX DOUBLING.
