Meet The Newest Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters

The recruits will attend a 16-week academy before heading to the fire stations.

LIVERMORE, CA: Thirteen new Livermore-Pleasanton firefighters began a 16-week fire academy this week, LPFD Battalion Chief Aaron Lacey said.

"After a long testing process, we offered jobs to 13 highly qualified individuals, which includes eleven firefighter-paramedics and two firefighter-EMTs," Lacey told Patch.

During the academy process, the recruits will learn the public safety basics.

"A sample of the many topics the recruits will learn are advanced fire behavior, ventilation, vehicle extrication, wildfire operations, and basic/advanced emergency medical care," Lacey said.

The academy is slated to graduate in August.
