Murphy's Paw Opens Second Tri-Valley Store In Livermore

The store will sit along First Street in downtown Livermore and offer goodies for dogs, cats and even humans.

LIVERMORE, CA — Pet goods store Murphy's Paw is planning to open a second store in downtown Livermore, in mid-February. Murphy's Paw already has a Pleasanton store that primarily sells items for dogs, but also has a cat section and gift section for people.

The Livermore store has been five years in the works, said owner Dean Mancini, who lives in the city and wanted to be part of the downtown area's revitalization. But it was never the right building or the right lease.

Now he said he's found a good landlord and location at 2044 First Street, site of the former Divine Boutique.

The lease is up for the Pleasanton store in a year. Mancini said he'll evaluate whether to extend the Pleasanton store's lease or focus on the Livermore store at that time.

Murphy's Paw is a family-owned business that sells locally or regionally sourced goods, and items made in the U.S. It offers Pleasanton-made bandannas, Livermore-made bakery goods and Santa Cruz-made treats, Mancini said.

He plans to offer raffles and make available a free scale so pet owners can weigh their animals without a trip to the vet. Murphy's Paw works with local rescue organizations by allowing staff to set up outside of the shop on weekends.
