New Park to Open in Livermore This Week

A grand opening ceremony for Cayetano Park park will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.

The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is ready to add a brand new park to its more than 40 already available in the community.

Cayetano Park, located at the northeast corner of Portola Avenue where Isabel Avenue turns into Campus Hill Drive, offers residents a variety of recreation opportunities.

The 11.5-acre park, situated on a hill with views, features many modern amenities:

* Playground equipment for children of all ages, including an archaeological dig sand area with water feature, plus shade umbrellas
* Synthetic turf sports field with lights and bleachers
* Dog park with separate area for small dogs and drinking fountain for dogs
* Barbecue picnic area with shade structure and universally accessible picnic tables
* Stunning blue basketball court made with Plexipave, a high-quality heavy duty surface
* Large grass field area for open play
* Restrooms open during regular park hours
* 88 parking spaces
* Lighted pathways
