New York Man Killed in Fatal ATV Rollover Crash Near Livermore Friday

The man's name has not yet been released.

A New York man was killed in a fatal rollover crash involving an all-terrain vehicle in unincorporated Santa Clara County near Livermore on Friday evening, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Friday, the man was riding on a Yamaha ATV on a property off of Sawtooth Canyon Road, north of San Antonio Valley and Mines roads, CHP Officer Ross Lee said. He lost control of the ATV, was ejected and landed on the ground, Lee said. Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene, Lee said.

The man was in the area for a family reunion during Labor Day weekend, Lee said. He was from Merrick, New York, a community about 20 miles east of Queens, according to Lee.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office is not yet releasing the man’s name because his next of kin has not been notified of the death.
