Oakland Temple - Open for Public Tours
The Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is open for public tours for the first time in 55 years.
The Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been closed and under renovation for a year and is ready to be re-opened. It will be re-dedicated in June, but prior to dedication, it is now open for public tours.
The public is invited to tour the newly renovated temple from now through Saturday, June 1, 2019, except Sundays. Tours can be individually scheduled at www.OaklandTemple.org. Tours are free, but reservations are required, information about parking is also on the website. Saturdays are nearly fully booked, but tours are open weekdays from 9am to 8pm.
This is an opportunity for the public to enter the temple for the first time in over 50 years. Once dedicated, only members of the church are admitted to the temple.

Temples are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred covenants with God. People find opportunities for peaceful reflection and for learning more about God’s plan of happiness. They are also where sacred ceremonies and ordinances such as marriages are performed.
