Ohlone Softball/Baseball Hitting Stride
Renegades making final preparations for conference play with commanding wins

The good times are rolling for the Ohlone softball team, which enters the week riding a five-game winning streak.
Ohlone followed a 15-0 rout of Chabot in its conference opener with back-to-back doubleheader sweeps of Santa Rosa, 14-1, 7-1, and Redwoods, 10-0, 21-0.

In the 14-1 win (five innings), Arrianna Whitlock and Lauryn Garcia had monster games, each with a home run and double. Whitlock was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBI, and Garcia was 2 for 3 with three RBI and three runs scored. Karen Didio got the pitching win.
In the 7-1 romp, Garcia doubled and homered and had three runs scored. Brooke Niewoehner was 2 for 4 with a double. Arrianna Whitlock had a triple and two RBI, all in support of winning pitcher Ana Beard. Shay Nassery, the right fielder, contributed two hits.

In the 10-0 blowout of visiting Redwoods, Whitlock belted a home run and had four RBI. Niewoehner doubled and tripled and had four RBI. Catcher Jess Marty was 2 for 2 with a triple and RBI.
In the 21-0 hit parade, Whitlock was 4 for 5 with a double, triple and five RBI. Niewoehner had four RBI with a double.
BASEBALL
The Renegades (11-5) capped last week in a big way with nonconference wins over College of San Mateo, 7-3, and Chabot, 15-8.
Against CSM, Ohlone’s Peter Van Loon (4-2) went 7.2 strong innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs, striking out 10 and walking two. Ohlone got off to a strong start as Dalton Vanhille (2 for 2, 4 RBI) had RBIs in the first and third innings, and Zach Patterson made it 3-0 with a solo shot in the fourth. Patterson, also a relief pitcher, also struck out three in the ninth to close out the win.
Catcher Cody Nisbet was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Against Chabot, Ohlone hammered out 13 hits and led 9-0 after two innings. Patterson had another big game, going 3 for 5 with another home run, four RBI and three runs scored.
Patterson entered the week tied for third in the state in home runs with five. Vanhille is tied for seventh in California in RBI with 23 (No. 1 Coast Pacific). Andrew Amato and Patterson are atop the Coast Pacific in pitching wins with four. Van Loon leads the conference in strikeouts (42).
Ryan Robinson is fifth in the conference in ERA (2.96).
