Ohlone Sports: Renegades Host Jonathan Wallace Memorial tourney
Gavilan, Modesto, San Joaquin Delta participating in Nov. 8 and 10 men's event

New Ohlone head coach Steve Kline will lead the Renegades in the Jonathan Wallace Memorial Tournament on Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, an event that honors Jonathan Christian Wallace (1985-2004), who played at Ohlone from 2002-2004.
An honors student and active contributor on Ohlone's campus, Wallace died tragically in a car accident two weeks before enrolling at Adams State on a basketball scholarship.
In opening tourney action, Gavilan will face Modesto at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and the host Renegades will tip off their season against San Joaquin Delta at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Gavilan will face Delta at 5 p.m. and Ohlone will challenge Modesto at 7 p.m.

The Renegades will be led by sophomore guards Kai Winterling out of Menlo-Atherton and Felipe Marasigan (Washington-Fremont). Winterling averaged 9.4 points a game last season. Ohlone advanced to Round 2 of the state playoffs.
Newcomers Kaleb Smith Kirmarje Trent, both out of Antioch, and Aiden Graham of Brisbane, Australia are also key players, along with Kyle Vickery (Amerian HS).

MEN'S SOCCER
Ohlone's rally fell short in a 2-1 loss to Chabot on Nov. 2. Edgar Garcia scored for the Renegades in the 57th minute off an Antonio Manzo assist.
Garcia and Joseph Paredes also scored for the Renegades in a 4-2 defeat to Hartnell in Salinas on Oct. 30. Muhammed Salam and Juan Adrian Viera had assists.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Ohlone walloped Monterey Peninsula 4-0 as Yasmin Barrios scored two goals and had an assist to lead the way. Kristina Alvarez had a goal and an assist, and Victoria Lochead also scored the Renegades.
MEN'S WATER POLO
Ohlone, who has battled courageously with just eight men on the roster, wrapped up the Coast Conference tournament with a 23-7 blowout of De Anza on Nov. 3. Ohlone will face Merced in the NorCal Championships at West Valley on Friday.
WOMEN'S WATER POLO
After crushing Laney 22-3, the Renegades dropped an 8-7 heartbreaker against Foothill in a Coast Conference play-in game.
Ohlone's Alexis Gobel had a game-high six goals against Foothill. Alyssa Gomez also scored. Goalie Sophia Villarreal amassed 13 saves.
Against Laney, Gobel had six goals and Gomez and Selena Winstead each had five goals. Caliegh Haley and Summer Balao both had two goals.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The Renegades (19-7, 6-3) have three more chances at magic win No. 20 in the regular season.
With injuries taking a toll down the stretch, the Renegades dropped a 3-0 decision against De Anza in Cupertino on Oct. 30. The scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-19. For Ohlone, Kayla Valencia had 12 kills and Hailey Amaral six kills and 10 digs.
Ohlone travels to powerful Gavilan (25-1, 10-0) on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and then will host Canada-Redwood City on Friday, Nov. 9 and San Jose on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
