UPDATE: Two Now Dead After Fatal Collision on Hwy 84 in Sunol
The roadway was expected to reopen around 10:00 p.m., according to CHP officials.

Update:
A second person died after a collision on state Highway 84 in Sunol, an unincorporated area of Alameda County, California Highway Patrol officials said. CHP officers responded to a report of a collision at 6:17 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway, said Officer Damian Cistaro.
Officials originally said two vehicles collided but have increased that to at least three vehicles. Cistaro said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person died at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. Two people with major injuries were also transported to Eden Medical Center, Cistaro said, and one person with moderate injuries was taken to Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore.

First responders transported two juveniles to a hospital to be checked for injuries, according to the CHP. At least seven people were involved in the crash that closed all lanes of the highway until 10:01 p.m. tonight.

At least one person died and two helicopters have been called to airlift people injured in a collision this evening on state Highway 84 in Sunol, an unincorporated area in Alameda County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to a report of a collision involving at least two vehicles in the westbound lanes of Highway 84 at 6:17 p.m., said CHP Officer Damian Cistaro. Cistaro said at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP is landing two helicopters to airlift other injured parties to area hospitals, Cistaro said, adding he didn’t yet know how many people were involved in the collision.
Cistaro said the cars may already be off of the roadway but a Sig-alert was issued at 6:59 p.m. for all westbound lanes on Highway 84 so CHP could land the helicopters. The roadway is expected to reopen around 7:30 p.m., he said.
