Parks District Receives Awards, Plans for the Future
A Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan is in the works.

The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District received two awards this year from the California Park and Recreation Society. General Manager Tim Barry presented Chief Ranger Pat Sotelo and Park Ranger Amy Wolitzer with the 2014 Award of Excellence in Marketing and Communications for the monthly Valley Wilds newsletter.
Board Chair Bob Coomber also presented an engraved award to Tim Barry, which commemorates his installation as Board President of CPRS. Both recognitions were also part of the annual CPRS banquet held in March in Sacramento.
The Board also received a status update on the Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan on Wednesday night. RJM Design Group has been working on a new District Master Plan that will replace the current one completed in 2008.
A draft was presented to the Facilities Committee in November, and the committee plus staff gave input about the content and wording in the document. The consultant has done a considerable amount of work on a second draft, which will be ready for Facilities Committee review on April 21. If then presented to the Board in May and approved, a 30-day public comment period would open as part of an environmental review.
