Patelco Hires Financial Literacy Specialist to Support Efforts in Financial Education
New Hire Designed Provide Financial Training and Resources to Educate and Empower Local Community Members

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Patelco Credit Union, one of California’s largest credit unions with more than $4 billion in assets, announced the hiring of Luis Jara to serve as the Financial Literacy Specialist on its first- Community Outreach Team. In his role, Jara will work to drive Patelco’s commitment to deliver financial education programs designed to inform and empower the underserved within Northern California.
“I look forward to contributing to Patelco’s vision to become an industry leader in financial education and living the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”,” said Jara. “This is a great opportunity to take my passion for serving the community to support Patelco’s membership.”
Jara joins Patelco with more than a decade of financial services expertise. His career includes roles as a mortgage banker, retail branch bank manager, community lending supervisor and Series 7 and 66 licensed banker. Jara is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) licensed financial educator. He is also very active member of his community where he organizes weekly meals for homeless individuals and teaches financial literacy classes in his spare time.
