Pleasanton Police Chase Ends in Livermore Park

A Livermore resident and a Manteca man were arrested following the pursuit this morning, police officials said.

On Wednesday morning about 9:30 am, an officer of the Pleasanton Police Department was patrolling the neighborhood on Kottinger Drive near First Street. As he drove up the street, he noticed a green Ford Explorer parked along the curbside, occupied by several male subjects. The officer drove by the Explorer and after he passed it, the driver of the vehicle quickly put it in drive, made a u-turn entering a residential driveway and quickly sped away, in the opposite direction of the officer.

The officer, believing this was suspicious behavior, also turned around and pursued the Explorer. After witnessing a vehicle code violation, he attempted to make an enforcement stop. The driver of the SUV refused to comply and a pursuit ensued in which officers of Pleasanton PD followed the Explorer through the streets of Pleasanton and into Livermore. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle drove at high rates of speed and drove through red signal lights, endangering the occupants of the Explorer, as well as the general public.

Pleasanton Police dispatch called Livermore Police Department and notified them of the pursuit entering their jurisdiction. Livermore officers assisted where the pursuit ended at Yorkshire Drive and Briarwood Drive. The driver of the Explorer and the front passenger in the vehicle got out of the SUV and ran from pursuing officers. Both subjects were eventually located and taken into custody.
