Police Fatally Shoot Man Armed With Shotgun In Livermore

BREAKING: The shooting happened late Wednesday night after the man allegedly set a Livermore house on fire.

LIVERMORE, CA — Police in Livermore shot and killed a man armed with a shotgun late Wednesday night, police officials said. Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Via Deste just before 9 p.m. to investigate a report of a man outside acting "bizarrely" and challenging people to fight. When officers arrived, the man ran into the house and armed himself after refusing to obey the officer’s commands.

According to police, several shots were heard inside the home after the man made suicidal statements. The man remained inside the house for about two more hours. After a crisis negotiator tried to talk to the man, officers saw that a fire had been started inside the house.

“The suspect then exited the home and was holding a shotgun,” police said in a statement. “Officers fired at the suspect, who was hit and went to the ground.”
