Q&A: Livermore Brewery Goes From Pint Glass To Carry-Out Cans

LIVERMORE, CA — Miss grabbing a beer with your friends? So do the folks at Shadow Puppet Brewing Company, which is eager to see customers gather once more after tasting rooms were closed.

Patch is trying to support local businesses by giving them a platform to share their successes and tribulations during the coronavirus pandemic. The following comes from Brian Blackburn, CEO of Shadow Puppet Brewing Company:

How long have you been in business?

Since 2016.

What challenges have you encountered during the pandemic?

Closing of tasting room, closing of majority of restaurant and fewer bar customers led to an extremely limited cash flow to cover ongoing overhead costs.

How have you adapted and continued to serve people during this time?

We are currently serving to-go only items out our front door every day from 12-6 p.m. We have moved from serving primarily draft beer in our tasting room to now largely packaging the majority of our beer in cans so people can easy order and take to-go.

The obvious safety measures are being taken, including temperature checks for employees, masks and gloves when needed, and increased disinfecting schedule for applicable areas.

What aspect of your work are you most looking forward to returning to when restrictions are lifted?

Interactions with our customer base. I know they are eager to be able to come back inside, and we miss that interaction with our many loyal customers.

We are eager to be able to have customers back inside soon!
