NWS: Red Flag Warning Issued For East Bay Hills, Valleys

Conditions will ease slightly by Thursday afternoon, but even worse fire weather is forecast for the weekend.

EAST BAY, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for the East Bay hills and valleys from noon Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday due to high winds and dry conditions.

The Red Flag warning extends to the North Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains as well.

Strong north to northeast winds will develop over the North Bay and spread southward over the East Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains Wednesday night into Thursday, according to the NWS.

The winds will ease by Thursday afternoon but very low humidity will persist through Friday — and the dangerous conditions are forecast to worsen over the weekend. Stronger winds are expected to hit the Bay Area Saturday night into Sunday, the NWS said.
