Senator Steve Glazer To Speak At Las Positas College Commencement

Glazer prioritizes education within his governing principles and sees access to learning as the gateway to opportunity and prosperity.

From Las Positas College: Las Positas College has announced Senator Steve Glazer (D-CA) will speak at its 2018 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 26.


Glazer, who represents the 7th Senate District encompassing most of Contra Costa County, and the Tri-Valley area of Alameda County, has served since 2015, after attaining office during a special election. He was re-elected in November 2016.

Throughout his Senate tenure, Glazer has made education a top priority, voting to provide higher education opportunities for more students by authoring legislation to improve on-time graduation rates at the California State University and opening up 15,000 new slots at the University of California and the California State University systems. Senator Glazer also supported legislation that appropriated $5 million to specifically support veterans' resource centers at community colleges throughout California.

Glazer, who has two daughters, prioritizes education within his governing principles and sees access to learning as the gateway to opportunity and prosperity. Additionally, Glazer's principles include: representing the people of his district, maintaining a balanced budget, pursuing bipartisan decisions, holding the line on taxes, incorporating environmental protection, empowering local decision-making over state mandates, advancing accountability and efficiency within government programs, promoting civility and respect for all people and their perspectives, while conducting himself with honesty and integrity.

Prior to serving in the State Senate, Glazer was the Mayor of Orinda from 2011-2015, an advisor to Governor Jerry Brown, and the Legislative Director of the California Students Association in Sacramento.

A member of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus, Glazer earned his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University where he was President of the Associated Students.

Las Positas College's graduation ceremony will commence on Saturday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in the LPC gym, Building 2500, 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore. Parking is free and is available in Lots P, E and H.
